The rum Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 - Solera Gran Reserva is made by a aging process resulting from the technique of "sistema solera" in which age rums and various profiles are assembled, then aged in a succession of barrels. The first barrels were used to maintain robust American whiskey, the latter delicate sherry and the latest Pedro Ximénez elegant wines. In the end, the resulting liquid is a unique blend of rums aged 6 to 23 years of age.
Mahogany clear, with long maturation dyed was noticeable on the edges and a long, slow leg that drags on the glass.
A soft start extending complexity in the glass: aromas of caramel, vanilla and cocoa, which are combined with several distinctive layers of different casks maturing Sistema Solera: brazil nuts notes and hazelnut sherry, and round notes of caramelized banana and pineapple bourbon barrels.
wonderfully rich and complex, with a viscosity evoking very atypical honey to an elderly spirits: a large depth of raisinés fruits and apricots, bringing to an intense heart of oak, hazel, leather and tobacco with notes of coffee and vanilla, balanced by a spicy touch of cinnamon and ginger in the final: a rum undoubtedly made for experienced palates.
